  • Acceptance Acquired One Day Before
    the Beginning of the Semester

Acceptance AcquiredIt was several days before Rosh Hashanah, and we were doing our preparations technically and spiritually to the best of our abilities, without knowing what might still be added to our list. Everything was fine until the phone rang; it was the principal of our son’s yeshiva. After a short introduction, he informed us in a compassionate tone of voice of the final decision that the staff had made regarding our son’s future: Unfortunately, he would not be accepted for the next semester, starting after Sukkos. The principal explained to us that they had tried every method and used all of their resources to gain our son’s cooperation, but to no end. They would therefore be forced to reject his application for the next semester.

Tragedy hit home! It might not seem as tragic as a traumatizing health issue, but to us this was devastating! Our dear son, for whom we have so many hopes, has disappointed us so much? Who knows what is yet to come? Instead of having the Erev Yom Tov atmosphere, our home felt like a “beis aveilim”. Our son couldn’t face us, his heartbroken parents. He knew we were taken aback, yet he claimed that he himself was shattered to pieces. He tried to convince us that he had made an effort to behave, but that for some reason all of his attempts had ended up flopping.

As a Shliach min Hashamayim, a friend of ours told us about the wonderful segulah of the Divrei Chaim ztz’l and how he has seen miracles happening through it. Of course we jumped right on it. We donated the two dollars each day and asked Hashem to find our son a yeshiva where he could succeed in Avodas Hashem

One day before the opening of yeshiva the phone call arrived. It was one of the staff at a yeshivah that we had tried very hard to get our son into: “We are happy to accept your son for the upcoming semester starting tomorrow!” We exploded into tears! The situation seemed unreal. We were thankful to Hashem. “You know,” the voice over the phone continued, “we’ve never done this in the past, to accept a new student so late.”

He might not know why we were an exception to the rule, but we know. The segullah surpasses all rules and regulations. It has broken tough barriers!

Today, a year later, our son was easily reaccepted to this yeshiva! Obviously, he has shown great progress and is moving in the right direction.
